44 14 years old at marriage? First child was born 10 years later. Maybe the marriage date is really 1718? The following is a research report from Andrew Pierce: I searched downthe best sources given in Torrey's New England Marriages to 1700 forthe marriage of William Johnson to Hannah Davis, although referenceshad to be followed up for their parents, not for them.History ofBillerica, Massachusetts(1883)shows that Joseph Davis, from ReadingMA, married Rebecca Patten in Billerica in 1691; their second daughterHannah was born in 1694 but it is not stated who she married. JosephDavis died in 1747 and his Middlesex County probate file(#6045)shouldcertainly be checked, unless you already have this as your source.Middlesex County deeds might also be checked for William & HannahJohnson deeding out land in her right. Newhall Ancestry (1899)states that William Johnson(born 1686 inWoburn)married firstly in 1708, Sarah Dole, secondly, after his firstwife died in 1710, Hannah -------. Obviously, the marriage had tooccur between 1710 and 1718, when their first child was born inWoburn, and obviously it occurred in or near Woburn, not Mansfield CTsince the couple did not remove there until the 1730s, after all theirchildren were born in Woburn and registered in the VRs there. There isno record of William's marriage to Hannah in any Massachusetts vitalrecords, and the actual date might never be known. If you do needconfirmation that she was a Davis, however, I can check the aboveprobate and land records at the Middlesex County registry, to which Itravel about twice a week. Is mentioned in the will of Joseph Davis as his daughter HannahJohnson wife of William Johnson on FHL US/CAN film #0521779 Page 157 Davis, Hannah (I502253)
